Yesterday, I told @wayward that a secluded glade was a top five place to see a ghost. They pressed me on it so here's my list (in no particular order):

A Secluded Glade

I would love to be walking through a dense alpine forest on a foggy day when I reach a small clearing. And I would love if that small clearing had a ghost. Maybe they're in a long-abandoned log cabin. Maybe they're the ghost of a giant buck that once rubbed their antlers on the trees. I'm not picky.

Graveyard

Look, I know it's cliche but who wouldn't want to get spooked as they cut across a graveyard?

An Abandoned Rail Line

Ideally, I would love to be walking along the former grain line through Clearwater, Manitoba at night. I'd like to go over the former rail bridge and into the trees. As the lights of the town fade behind me I'd love to see the light of a former train go by.

It doesn't have to be that one though. Maybe I'm walking out in the country and I find an older rail line. A forgotten one. One where I can only just see the rusty rails gleaming occasionally in gaps in the underbrush

On the Sea

I live right in the middle of the continent, so this one is going to be tricky. I would love to be standing on some cliffs overlooking the ocean on a calm fall night and see a ghost surrounded by fog heading toward me from the horizon

An Abandoned Building Being Slowly Reclaimed By Nature

I had originally been thinking some sort of public building like a station but I might be leaning toward a factory. I'd love to see a ghost working calmly but efficiently at some repetitive machining task. One that shows up the simple elegance of their expertise

have you heard of the Paulding Light outside of Paulding, Michigan? there’s an abandoned rail line out in the woods, and some nights you can see a floating light race along the power lines. i think in the last few years it’s transitioned from unexplained phenomenon to explained phenomenon, but it feels pretty ghostly especially if you don’t look up what the poindexters think about it
