thinking about getting back into subwayposting.... it might be fun to do a little introduction to the available modes of transit in the new york city area, and also talk about the control structures and stuff. it is kind of a clusterfuck to be honest but that's why it's fun to explain

in reply to @cass's post:

hard agree on the lack of accessability. they are updating Flushing MainSt.'s station now to improve this, so im looking forward to the results, but there are so many other stops that need love too. like 111th st.

at least flushing actually has an elevator; though it gets backed up from time to time. personally i think the most dire situation is the entire G, which has only two accessible stops, and only one has a transfer, and it's at the other side. if you're not able to climb stairs and you want to get anywhere from greenpoint av., an accessible station, you need to ride the entire length of the G to church avenue, then transfer to the F and ride back into manhattan. they're adding an elevator on 7th avenue that marginally improves the situation, but you still have to ride most of the line. it could be fixed very easily by just making court sq. accessible, but that's not a priority for whatever fucking reason

sorry i'm VERY opinionated about this. i promise my actual posts will be more coherent lmao
