K177

This article is about the KCEC line of electronic intelligence models. For the documentary of the same name, see K177 (1997 film).

The K177, internally known as the Kansas Model 177 and also referred to colloquially as "the Kitts", was a line of electronic intelligence units designed and produced by the Kansas City Electronics Company from 1994 to 2006. This line of models, like all lines in the K1 series, is made for home use, primarily suited to tasks such as housework, paperwork, or simple home engineering. Different K177 subtypes are often specialized for different tasks-- the K177-E, for example, served as a digital assistant, with the purchase of the chassis being entirely optional.

A few commonalities are shared between K177 models: their underlying system architecture is the same, with each unit running the Victory OS (from versions 4.0A to 5.7A), as well as a number of similarities in terms of internal construction. The most notable similarity, however, is the feline-like anthropomorphic appearance of all of the default chassis in the line (barring the K177-E, which had a 3D model that appeared cat-like instead.)

There were 12 produced subtypes of the Model 177, each lettered sequentially. Some letters do not make an appearance, presumably because their subtypes were scrapped in development (see: Kansas City Electronic Company product nomenclature).
