this is a picture of the IRT broadway-seventh avenue platform at the 168th street station, running the 1 service. this station is (mostly) unique for a few reasons! it's one of the few platforms only accessible by elevator (but still not ADA-accessible, thanks MTA), and is one of the oldest stations in the system (besides the original twenty-eight.) the lighting has been redone multiple times- there were once lampposts on the bridge over the rails, and the decorative medallions placed in the ceiling were once light fixtures. overall i think the station is very pretty- one of the most aesthetically pleasing in the city, to be honest. was nice to wait here today, despite the heat.
