the MTA did a whole-ass study that said that yes, heavy rail would be most effective in serving the greatest number of people, but hochul can't do one good thing in her entire governorship, and so instead it's gonna be light rail, which will have lower capacity without really being all that much cheaper, as well as being forcibly separate from the current subway system, meaning they're probably gonna give it separate fares. god. it really is impossible for there to be a strictly positive transit development in NYC

nah interborough was always gonna be just in brooklyn and queens, unfortunately. they cut it down from triboro, then cut it down again into light rail
