Honestly only one person has ever brought up osmosis itself or the verb form "to osmose", instead they always ask if it's from Osmosis Jones which is like the absolute worst lmao
A good number of our names work like this. We choose not to share them publicly (at least, not on a website that anyone can visit), but. Well, Fluffies is our system name and that's just a noun / adjective yesyes.
this prompted me to look up the origin of my name which i haven't done in a while, assuming it was a diminutive of eva. i found out it was a name for boys and girls in england as evelyn and comes via french aveline, meaning "desired, wished for" or "water, island"? idk how much i trust the etymology research of those baby name sites lol. but I'll take it!
My real name is a deformation of the past participle of a latin verb (if I remember correctly), but I chose "Quidam" because it's a latin word and a word in french, my native language (you can laugh, I hate it too), with the same meaning and I liked the idea that I'm just some face in the cyber streets, another random bloke* among the myriad of people. Of course, what happened is that people started calling me "Quidam", and now it feel as if it is my specific name, which defeats the point, but whatever, I'm used to it now. *I can't find a gender neutral version of bloke.
