A couple years back I tried playing Dark Souls for the first time and bounced off it, but had a feeling I would give it another shot eventually. Seeing Elden Ring stirred that pot again, but then I inherited a PS4 from a friend and got a chance to try Bloodborne. I guessed it would be a better fit than DS, in part because of the tempo of the combat, but also because the vibes looked absolutely impeccable (also, gay). (The same friend that gave me the PS4 also once described me as a "Victorian e-girl." Love you, Laur.)
Anyway, anyone who's seen my stream MJPEGs knows the rest: I haven't been this obsessed with a game in years, and the whole 'soulsborne' formula finally clicked for me. But it all comes back to the vibes.
