I'm building a Cohost Icecast Webring, CIW (pronounced CHEW)

Build an audio stream that broadcasts via the Icecast protocol. Make a nice webpage for it if you like.

Submit an ask to this page with: the URL of your Icecast stream, a title, a short text description, and (optional) a URL to a homepage if you have one. Be cool, don't do edgy shit, my judgment is final, etc etc. Let's make this fun, not weird

I'll add streams to this page:

Cohost Icecast Webring!

Feel free to remix it and make the page cooler/fancier, or customize the list of stations!

Remix on Glitch!

Hey, I'm in this! Check out 2 Warcraft 2 Radio, a radio station entirely consisting of barks and sound effects from Warcraft 2. Listening to it feels kinda like drive-time radio interstitials that never, ever end.

My entry in the webring is kind of a cheat (sorry, Casey) because it's not strictly an Icecast station. Instead it's a homegrown Icecast-alike using Express and Node to stream audio files. That made it easier to host on Glitch, and I had so much fun making it that I made a separate app you can remix for your own internet radio stations!

You can remix the Goblin Radio Tower on Glitch (click here for super speed) or fork the repo on GitHub. Once you've got your instance running with your own username and password, you can log in and start uploading files from your computer, and they'll instantly get added to a streaming station you can share with your friends.

Happy streaming! ✨🎵

use tyler's glitch app. if you have computer touching disease, i wrote a dockerfile for mpd with some configs for running it with icecast.

if it's a terminal case there's also a helm chart

in reply to @ckolderup's post:

that'd be really cool! (thinking out loud) I don't know enough about webaudio to know how that would work for sure but maybe if the page pre-loaded multiple <sources> within the <audio> tag (or just juggled multiple <audio> tags entirely) it's possible to crossfade between adjacent stations?

oh woww thank you!! i rly like that one, aivi wrote it so i can say that without feeling weird about it LOL

is there a place you recommend for hosting an icecast? i thought i had something but im not sure now
