- 2021 — it annoyed me a couple times and i used a walkthrough near the end, but Mundaun still owns. impeccable vibes and lots of mystery
- 2020 — eat shit, Perfect Park is the greatest driving game of all time. and that's not just because i briefly had the fastest times across the board
- 2019 — maybe one day i'll play Outer Wilds and it will be good, but until then i have to go with something i've actually played: Mahjong Soul, which is, hilariously, the uncontested best way to play riichi mahjong online in english. add me on the catgirl game: 112024037
- 2018 — i didn't get Paratopic until i did. it doesn't bother about trying to explain itself, and is one of the only games since 30 Flights that understands the art of the cut
- 2017 — Night in the Woods. no contest
- 2016 — it's a vibes-first performance, but VA-11 HALL-A also makes the clever narrative decision to background a stereotypical cyberpunk thriller plot in favor of a series of small, interpersonal stories
- 2015 — aka the greatest year in video games. Yakuza 0, Her Story, and Bloodborne are each better than most of the other games on this list, but SOMA is the best of them all, and very nearly made me cry on stream. (also, play it on no-death mode)
- 2014 — playing through NaissanceE involved rapidly alternating between "this is the greatest game ever made" and "if i miss this jump one more time i am uninstalling and throwing away my computer"
- 2013 — you probably haven't heard of this one. it's called Gone Home and you just kind of walk around?
- 2012 — the best game of 2012, the best ever soundtrack, and the longest list of content warnings; that's The House in Fata Morgana baby
- 2011 — wait, Fallout New Vegas didn't come out this year. nevermind, then
