right! they confirmed it's not optional too. I saw NY passed laws that tenants could decline smart locks; I'm hoping WA state will pursue similar

are landlords in your area obligated to at least provide locks with some reasonable level of security? there's a decent chance that whatever they install will be defeatable with a rake or a strong magnet or a stern look, and if you can demonstrate that, maybe that might help? if not, it would at least prevent you from getting locked out
