I'm impressed, envious, and also aware that I probably don't have the organization or patience to pull of having a different email for every site
i have it set up so that anything @catball.dev goes to me, so I can just kinda make up an email for each thing on the spot, and make filters later :)
oh right in your dns settings? I actually could also do this i'm realizing. i might even have it set up that way already
I did this with an option in fastmail, i think it's implemented in the mail server side of things in their case! thatd be cool if you wired it up with dns records tho
I own a domain that I don't really use, but I do have it forwarding to another account rn, and I think I could use the wildcards to set this up
oh this is a neat idea with the domain, should give it a try sometime. i've tried doing it with gmail (using the + trick) but it got cumbersome to use for logins (esp since my base gmail username is long anyway).
fastmail and migadu both have wildcard addresses as a feature, super handy! same with using gmail + before; plus sometimes forms dont know how to handle a + in an email or username :(
yeah i ran into the + issue...i may look into those other two (i've heard of fastmail but not migadu 🤔), esp in my slow push to detach google things from me x.x
between the two, I kinda prefer fastmail! I used migadu initially when leaving gmail since it was slightly cheaper, but swapped to fastmail since it's a little easier to use and has caldav support and static web hosting
