imagining a fantasy world where magic is like kinda hard to learn, but mostly because everyone's kinda dogshit at teaching abstract stuff. basically this world is like you could learn to cast magic missile, but it's the same level of difficulty of learning like multivariable calc. it's doable, but learning up to there usually sucks if you went through public education, and it's fiddly and annoying to do

I didn't finish the education degree due to a number of factors, but it did teach me a lot about teaching!!
