you can change the voice in Settings -> Accessibility -> Spoken Content and using the "System Voice" dropdown
at the bottom of that dropdown, you can use "Manage Voices" to download better voices like Siri Voice 5
The audio output capture source doesn't work? Normally you can just capture all of your desktop audio output that way (which has both its pros and its cons) rather than using an application audio output capture source. Though I'm not familiar with OBS for mac, just for windows.
unfortunately, it doesn't seem to capture any audio when I set up desktop audio capture! I've seen online to use software like blackhole to work around that, but it hasn't worked on the most recent mac OS version :(

And I'm guessing the TTS is a system sound so application audio capture won't work. Blegh.
heck yea!! I've been using it on my iphone for a bit. I like the twink giving me gps directions 
wow thats way higher quality than i expected. i was previously using the 'samantha' voice for this, stark difference. really wish there was a way to use this cross platform though
yeah! the (not-compact) siri voices seem like they're a lot higher quality
