that happened to my library last year. It was hell, I spent four months physically writing down transactions for patrons. Our shelves ran empty because nothing could be 'checked out' so nothing could be 'checked in', I spent four weeks in a warehouse helping to process a dozen trailers full of returned material

yeah that’s what we’re looking at rn, kinda hoping enough lessons were learned from other systems to help it go better this time but who knows. i’m sorry u had to go thru that!!

If you pivot fast enough to something like a smartsheets system with IT vetting laptops for handscanners you can circumvent a lot of pain points but it relies on your managers being able to do things that sound scary like 'try things'
