ok but like what was wrong with removing dislikes from YouTube though i still don't get it

if an informational video is outdated or inaccurate, or if someone is sneaking bigotry into an otherwise normal video, the dislike counter could tip people off to that. It's also just weird and bad when websites remove features with no good reason, but there are browser extensions to restore dislikes so it's not the worst in this instance
