I see that we're at the stage of Twitter collapse where everyone is screaming about reasons not to use any of the alternatives & I've replied to several threads about that & deleted most of those replies upon second thought.
It kind of seems like the people I enjoy interacting with most are going to mastodon so I guess maybe I need to try to figure that out again, but I couldn't sort it out before I had covid & my odds are much worse now with the cognitive decline.
It's comparatively "mild" for me in the sense that I can still do my actual job so far, but it's a noticeable difference & it's been really difficult for me, as someone whose primary survival mechanism for decades has been basically being quick-witted & able to problem-solve on the fly.
Yesterday was an awful day - we just bought a house (a thing I never thought would happen & am extremely excited about, except...) & now we're having a major plumbing issue that is both distressing bc money & also very specifically triggering for me. & now I'm also distressed about my online community dispersing to the four proverbial corners of the world. And this place, which I like, has some sketchy TOS stuff that is almost certainly not as bad as the viral thread says. But in practical terms, it doesn't matter what the reality is, if people's perceptions due to that thread keep them from even trying it out.
