EDIT: i found out they are on hiatus which has me listening to their first album for the first time in ages, it's incredibly good. their early stuff for sure hits me harder than their later stuff (my first exposure to their music was the schrödinger's cat EP which is also around this time, and that remains to this day my favorite set of songs of theirs), so maybe they felt they had stagnated? either way, truly great
