Hi I'm Beem! Professional genderfluid synesthesia-having artist and composer. This is my little all-encompassing blog space on the internet. I'll have doodles and music and various thoughts for things I'm into!

Highly inspired by @hvb's SNES music guide, I have made a guide to making chiptune using MML.

It's available here!: https://mml-guide.readthedocs.io/

My goal was to have a guide that covers all the important basics of the sequence format, that anyone could from it understand more easily the basics of any other format they decide to pick up, as well as provide documentation with proper explanations on all the specifics about formats I've been using.

Currently only PMD for PC-x801 is covered, but I plan on covering GBMC for gameboy and SuperC for the SNES in the future.

I also took the opportunity to make an updated list on available MML formats and links to its documentation and/or translations when available, since all the current google-able resources on it are super super old or don't provide much information.

I hope it'll be useful!

cool!

another driver for the list is rs3extool for romancing saga 3, which was used by the english FF6 community before i wrote mfvitools, though we only had the basic syntax documented -- mfvitools was made to support the existing basic MML files written for that, but since we had no reference for how to actually do macros or anything else fancy, i just made something up out of whole cloth for that part

the drive for writing it came from not being able to figure out how to write ADSR commands (which i later learned required using capital letters, so naturally it was completely unsolvable for me, because i don't use those)

thanks for the suggestion! I had considered adding r3extool to the list but I couldn't find any link or resources on it, only things that were based on it like ctspctool (which I didn't include because of how much clunky and unclear it is to explain how to set up compile), if you have a link to r3extool and resources on it it would be much appreciated!
