my wife and I both work at the same university and one of my favorite bits is to write her a super formal "Esteemed colleague," kind of email when I have to ask her a work question
never not panicked that i've forgotten the name of someone i've known for years
god, that doesn't really happen to me, but the last thing i remember about someone is their name. one time at a party i was talking with a girl i just met there for like 5 hours and i had to ask her name again at the end of the night
embarrassing but also, like it's not the important thing of the conversation. it happens
It happens regularly that I’ll be talking to someone and I’ll say “yeah I was talking to Eggbug* the other day and they said…” and the person I’m talking to will react with surprise and say “Eggbug? Really?!” and I will internally fully panic that I’ve gotten the name wrong of someone I’ve known my entire adult life when in fact they’re just surprised by some other aspect of the story I am relating
(* or whoever. Typically not Eggbug.)
whenever someone says my name to get my attention I introduce myself on the spot.
