Thats a video generator with a wooping 32x32 character field and 16 colors, output via PAL RGB!!
right now all the silly thing is doing is rendering the random contents of unitialized ram, since there is still no cpu in the circuit to fill up the ram with actual stuff to display
overall I'm pretty happy that its working as well as it is (took me a while to figure out the best way to sync the text and color data), next I want to improve the color palette and a design a custom font that is better suited towards petscii art (fun fact the font in the image is the Mattel Aquarius font of all things lol)
Now my real question is: is something still a fantasy console if its build around the same design principles of creating a platform with an interesting set of features and limitations to work with, but which also has, ya know, an actual physical form and implementation?
All in all, imagining this fictional early microcomputer from another reality, made by a company who decided that most software should come in the form of cartridges. For their little cute 2 cartridge slot machine and its very limited yet charming graphics. And its quirly library of mostly text adventures and rpgs.
