...tho that last one also makes me wonder how antisemitic whoever made up the gith words was. Like, Illithids are already pretty dubious with some of the Tropes there, you got tentacles, eating people, the "Grand Design", the way old Spelljammer had them present themselves as friendly space merchants IIRC?
in Star Wars the Quarren, who are squid-headed with tentacle beards kinda like Illithids and also usually villains, apparently often work as accountants across the galaxy
