I was doing some research on Palestine and happened to stumble across a somewhat related topic that’s fairly interesting. In the 70s, a cop in West Germany who studied potential uses of electronic data surveillance and computer networks for computerizing policing created West Germany’s computerized profiling/anti-“terrorism” system when he became the head of the BKA. this included using the system to track down Popular Front For The Liberation of Palestine members who were trying to help free Red Army Faction members. then these systems ended up going dormant in 1988, but were reactivated in 2001 post 9/11. anti-communist West German technology shifted mass surveillance in the West, has a direct tie to German anti-Palestine measures, and to the anti-Arab racism of “the war on terror”, as well as the US developing its own similar methods for computerized profiling. i am likely going to write a bigger piece about this and relate it to other issues, if you know more about this particular topic i'd love to talk about it. if you end up researching and writing your own pieces about it please let me know!
