blogging has always been something i do really sporadically, and that i have a hard time keeping up with. my past is littered with blogs with 3 posts on 'em, spaced months apart. even twitter took a long time for me to click (and really only because i treat it like a giant chatroom).
i've always thrived the most in chatrooms--i appreciate the ephemeral live discussions without the need (or even ability) to continuously follow context. you talk when you're around and a topic interests you (or you bring a topic into the room), and when you're not around, the river flows regardless. i know it's not for everyone, and it's certainly not for everything, but it works for me
the place that emanates that vibe the most is #maj7. that link is an invite to the discord server, which originated from an irc channel of the same name, and has kept much of that DNA. it's avery lively, chaotic place of musicians and music lovers, with over 1000 members and hardly any formal structure, just several anything-goes chatrooms (one of which is japanese language only), semi-regular musical events with massive participation, and some incredible talent. a large part of the discussion about the musical genre digital fusion took/takes place there!
i would call it my online home, even more than cohost (though of course, there's a significant difference between posting/blogging and chatting). i appreciate my friends there so much and enjoy learning about music and all kinds of other things.
at any rate, i wanted to put out an invite to maj7 for anyone to join who would like to do so. it's probably where you'll catch me from now on, as i re-evaluate where, how, and even whether i want to continue to have a presence on social media.
