jabbascript has me back down the painful rabbit hole of Huttese used across different Star Wars media, but this time it's more interesting bc i'm now viewing it as sort of a family of pidgins, both in-universe and irl bc each book/show's writers seem to be reinventing it based on previous Huttese dialog, creating a sort of pidgin in the process.
also there's like. the beginnings of derivational morphology emerging in Huttese separate from just compounding i think, and it'll be interesting to see how they further develop that. eg:
- pankpa "ship", panksta "port"
- kajidii "lord", kajidic "clan/enterprise/syndicate", paakajidik "territory"
fuck so i just learned that there's a whole album of music made for galaxy's edge and i can actually understand a lot of the huttese lyrics in the songs lmao. nothing super complex but whole phrases at least. and also the entirety of "Moolee-rah", which is just repetitions of:
- Fytee: I'm a rich man, I'll pay you, smile for me, I'll pay you!
- Snootles: I want money! I want money!
- Fytee: Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
