haven't finished listening to the whole episode yet but hearing how the game works during the setup for the Going Rogue episode of AMCA has me thinking it'd be really interesting to play set in the tannaitic period. i doubt i'd know enough history and/or midrash to do it but like, there would be so many interesting possibilities with all our old drama and infighting thru that whole era

You should check out Dream Askew / Dream Apart, which is the pair of games that started the Belonging Outside Belonging and No Dice, No Masters style that Going Rogue is part of!

i was coming here to say the same thing! i would love to see a hack of Dream Apart that took it all the way back to the tannaitic period, especially because the tanna were very much an outsider community in exile following the destruction of the temple—and those sorts of outsider communities are exactly what Belonging Outside Belonging is aimed at depicting.

that said, in the mean time, starting with the shtetl of Dream Apart would be a great way to dip your toes into a very similar concept, and you'd probably get a lot out of it!

ooh yes will look into that game more, thank you Austin and Jess for the rec! i want to try out gm-less games, partly bc i'm a forever gm and if nobody else in my group will gm a game for me to play in maybe i can just redistribute the gm-ing evenly across everyone this way.. (we'll see if that actually works lol)

Honestly, even if you end up heavily facilitating, this style of play can be SUCH a relief. I know it was fun for Jess and I to both suddenly have another player at the table who would do GM-like things, and I think that if we had kept playing for longer you would've heard the rest of the crew continue to pick up that part of the game too! (Unsurprisingly, Rob is really good at that sort of 'zoom out, here's how this goes down' moment, and I feel like he was just about to get there in a big way towards the end!)
