Sadly, Yiddish words that Germans would understand are limited to a few Rotwelsch words that have survived in common usage.

Schlamassel, Stuss, Macke and zocken are everyday words. Stuff like meschugge exists, but is certainly "informal".

I'm being reminded of this poem I saw in the intro of the doctoral thesis by Jasmina Čirkić, "Rotwelsch in der deutschen Gegenwartssprache" (focus is on Rotwelsch in the dissertation but still a very fun read)

Tausend Jahre
Es spie´elt sich e Stick Geschichde
in manchem fremme alde Wort;
aach wann sich stumm die Reihe lichde,
lebt doch noch manches bei uns fort.
Vum Jiddisch is schun veel verlor gang,

I'm not quite sure which dialect this is. Standard German transcription:

okay so I was frustrated with that first render (mostly because I whipped it up in a hurry in paint.net) so I downloaded Inkscape, learned Inkscape, and re-did it as a png with transparency and everything, I think it's better (it's bigger also)

If we cannot have cohost in the future, our only option is to extend it into the past. As soon as I've spun up the cyclotron we will begin moving the date of cohost's founding further and further into the past.

Mind you, there is a point of diminishing returns. While we have the technology to extend cohost backwards to before the creation of the Internet, logging onto it at that time might prove an issue.

There may also be paradoxes resulting from posts occurring before the events they're describing, but we're fairly sure that we can get the stains out of the space-time continuum with lemon and baking soda.
