@DieselBrain

I FUCKING HATE how looking up anything re: a video game (ex: “melee builds for AC6”) only gets fucking PAGES AND PAGES of SEO bait articles on websites I’ve never fucking heard of that ALWAYS have sub-optimal information at BEST. I have to type “Reddit” or “Wiki” to the end of most searches to actually find shit if I’m lucky

Love how the internet just fucking sucks now

literally this morning
me: where can i find this specific element on [Planet Name] in starfield
google: top result is a site called game123.ru
game123.ru: mercury is an element on the periodic table of elements. in starfield, it can be used in recipes. there are no known recipes.
me: ?????????????

it's amazing that the only way to navigate the internet is to either know a guy who knows a discord, or follow a youtuber who has a discord for the thing you're interested in. and then half of those discords are inaccessible without you solving archaic riddles, half their knowledgebase is disorganized ("just search [keyword] and you'll find it") and the attitude towards curiosity is passive aggressive at best and mods have a hair trigger for banning people they don't like the vibe of

like have fun if the community you're looking for information in has a racist/transphobic streak because it's a virtual guarantee that they run the discords you'd want to join to get information from.

god, yeah. Absolutely batshit insane to me how unusable search engines have become between the SEO bullshit, AI bullshit, fuckin' stock image websites and product photos and shit. It's ruined everything from image search to recipe websites to trying to find an answer to basically any question you could possibly have about anything. Like a thousand different layers of bullshit working in perfect harmony to make search engines just complete hell to use. It shouldn't have even been possible to create a world where the entire-ass internet is a worse method of obtaining information than a fucking recipe magazine or a shitty "101 playstation secrets" book at the walmart checkout in 2002 or whatever.
