yeah, toon shading can be really fiddly, and there's a lot of manual tweaking you need to do to get it looking right. Some combination of hand-painted shadows and regular toon shading is usually best, but it's a really tricky problem with a hundred parameters to mess with, so don't get discouraged! This is already really cute 😄
so apparently I should have edited the normals and done stuff like disable shadows etc etc
