daily knowledge: do you own an air fryer? well if you do, adam ragusea thinks you don't. he refuses to call them that, and refers to them only as exactly what they are on a technical level: a tabletop convection oven.

It would not exist. It's a misnomer. You can't fry anything with just air, that's just called baking. "Air fryer" was a marketing term invented to convince people that if they put the cheap frozen fries in this weird box on the counter instead of a proper deep fryer, it's somehow healthier.

NGL when I first heard the term "air fryer" I was very confused considering frying by definition involves things that are not and cannot be air. Blowing hot air over something to cook it is called a convection oven, not frying, but I guess that's too fancy a term for consumers.
