I do not understand the argument of "oh if you ban AI companies from exploiting people's data for their models it'll create a monopoly of the companies that have already exploited their data"
when like... you just... don't let the companies that exploited the data use the data???? It's not easy in practice but it's not that hard a concept to just not let them continue to use their models that come from ill-gotten data.
