spent some time in the open studio today, but it was honestly too hot to throw so I just did a few 2lb balls. made this perfect cylinder. perfect. love him. very happy with how the inside looks!!! was very optimistic and jumped right into closed forms for some single-piece lids. idk that either the one above or a wider, shallower version of the same shape will be keepers but it's good to get humbled lol.

thanks for the scholarship, beloved community pottery studio ❤️ I have so many goals for this class... I want to be better at intentional width (starting with a wider base, keeping it narrow as I throw) and thinner bottoms with less exaggerated shoulders up into the clay body. I want to make more single-piece lidded forms that don't feel like i was hanging on by a finger nail in the process lol. I want to be more creative and less constrained on trying new forms. I want to take better notes so that I remember the things that feel useful or revelatory to me in the moment. Maybe most importantly, I'm still learning! I have to not be as precious about keeping the things that I make - honestly, the best thing i can do at this point is make something and then slice it half to see what's going on in there.
