like i think it's the only PSX game that has visually aged well. there's a lot of attention to the visuals like how the fog in the intro matches the clouds so that it gives the effect that the ocean is significantly bigger than it actually is (it barely extends any further from what you see in the screenshot)
or how they bothered creating mouth sprites for cutscenes at the angle the character is in to mitigate the fact that characters don't have mouths modeled and facial animations are done exclusively with texture swaps

it's also a good potential gameplay loop that someone else should try to refine. like a third person shooter/rpg hybrid where you venture in dungeons and the stuff you find in dungeons is entirely optional but can power you up and make you stronger to prepare yourself for the next story beat. it's a really fun concept for a shorter game and i think it's one of the games that actually deserve a remake to iron out most of the flaws, maybe give some more meat on its bones without being overkill like a lot of AAA games are trying to be nowadays.
it's great. the controls are very, very bad but it doesn't stop it from being a fun little charming game.
