when night stretches its canvas,
all the texts ive ever sent you
rise from my phone like smoke
their wings are the tears of metal
they are rainbows crushed and unwound,
breathing firefly light
chirping the ciphers that unlock maps
they are honey on a painter’s hand
knots of moonlit sea
symmetry like a creased note
leaping, fumbling with the pen
in your room (in mine)
i pull back the shimmering blanket.
a violet scar eats into my thigh,
weeping stars as you trace the line
from tongue to tip. dock to anchor.
your fingers ravenous, fluttering ghosts.
to be the rain that graces your window first,
telling of fireworks, the dances of candlelight—
