@vogon took my post and made something that was interesting, funnier, and (because obviously a whole bunch of people follow him) way more popular. And that's awesome! I've seen a few other replies to his share that gave me a solid laugh.
Anyways...
But what about notifications?
You can like posts, and you can share posts, and you can like shares of posts. And I get notified about all of those. Those first two are great! Obviously I enjoy the dopamine hits from seeing folks who like what I've done, and I'm genuinely interested in seeing replies and riffs. But the torrent of notifications about people liking the shared posts gets overwhelming quickly, and while Twitter does the same thing, it's possible to mute threads (and I'm an avid third party client user, so I don't even see that much).
Now, as I understand it, Cohost doesn't want us drowning in notification addiction, and it's a goal I support. It's entirely possible I'm just dumb and missing the option, but it'd be a nice/cool feature to turn off certain classes of notification. Someone might suggest going so far as enabling that per-post, but I very strongly believe in KISS.
"Engagement" is a complicated word in social media, but having some level of control in how one can approach it feels like it fits the spirit of things here.
