One of the things that came across my feed (dashboard?) today was an “explainer” of Tumblr culture.
Tumblr isn’t Twitter, of course (neither is Cohost). It makes sense that there’d be different norms and considerations. And it’s important that when you walk into someone else’s home that you don’t go and shit on the floor. Knowing what tone certain kinds of replies and comments give off is genuinely good to know!
At the same time, there was also stern discussion on what your feed should look like. What you choose to put forward to your followers. And it gave off such a huffing-your-own-farts vibe that made me reconsider my decisions. I’ll stick around, but man, fuck that poster.
Cohost’s still figuring itself out. I imagine a lot of chosters are like me, older ex-forumites who found a comfortable spot on Twitter. I’m sure we’ll get along. I’m eager to see what happens when the first choster beefs emerge.
