...such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Foundation, Dune, etc....

Is that nobody's out there wearing the equivalent of a shitty nerd meme t-shirt. Where are all the dudes wearing Space Iron Maiden tees from concerts that happened two centuries ago? Why isn't some corpo running around doing his future-chores in sweats and a cheap branded tee where the ink is crumbling off?

Honestly I'm a fan of GotG's look. It does a good job of fitting into the MCU (for good and bad) while dragging in some of the Kirby-er elements in. It's a mish-mash, it's meant to be, and largely it pulls it off.

So basically. The future has no real culture. Like not a surprise, there is only so much you can think about as a designer of said shows.

Strangely, the Orville does this. On their off hours they wear more casual clothes.

Yeah, there's definitely practical considerations to consider from a production perspective: you want to maintain a clean visual language, you want to keep the design and art teams focused, you want to keep the budget down by preventing a bunch of one-off stuff.

But it definitely stands out nonetheless.
