it's...interchangable? like some friends've posted x.com links but swapping it to twitter.com still goes to the same tweet
I have found exactly two use cases for that link:
- On a mobile browser, I can tap x, and then long-press ., which works as a macro for .com, easiest way to open birdsite on mobile.
- Whenever they make another x-com game, they have bragging rights for having the x.com/xcom URL.
