(Mostly) Finished Citizen Sleeper and my one line review is: the vibes were impeccable.

Obviously since part 3 of Flux isn't out, I haven't done that, but overall I just love the main themes. I went in completely blind so I wasn't prepared for just how optimistic this seemingly dreary cyberpunk game would be: in a world crushed by the effects of rampant corporate capitalism, everyone still looks after each other and that message that small communities coming together can get through the day together is wonderful. Even the score reinforced this with its clean, airy synths and dreamy undertones.

I found the dice and condition system mechanically satisfying as well, though I kind of wanted it to push even more. Come the late game, you've got a lot of support systems in place (which also comes back to those themes of community building) so there isn't too much of a challenge. There was a taste of pushing things in Flux part 1 with the aggressive clock, again with the late game set up, it's actually not the worst if you're not juggling anything else (I was juggling another couple quest lines so ended up not getting all the objectives but I would have if, on the last cycle, the two 4s i played both didn't come up negative).

I'm going back and forth on if I would have liked to see more skill challenges and branching choices in the text narrative. There’s a smidge of conflicting themes where the narrative is all about community and support, but we also get the RPG trappings of a bunch of problems only getting solved once the over qualified PC gets involved, and it’s plenty easy to get +2 in all stats by late mid-game so it’s not like those checks are even real dice rolls anymore.

Either way, I would def recommend the game.
