the problem with cohost is that there isn't enough incredibly dumb discourse, actually. that's the hamster wheel that makes the money flow on mastodon, if they could just ramp up the discourse they would break even immediately. please reply with your proposed discourse topics

Going to start posting extremely bad opinions. If you don't like them, you can become my Nemesis for the low price of $5/mo, payable to ASSC. For your money, you get a little sword icon next to your name and push notifications with klaxon sound effects every single time I comment or interact with any post.

  1. Are primarily "yes, and." Putting the post you're responding to first in the reading order and on the same nesting level means you're amplifying it in a way that gives it more importance. You can still rechost things you disagree with and want to discuss, of course, but it doesn't really work if you're just looking to dunk.
  2. Preserve the full history of the chain in an easy way to read when it comes across your feed. No more clicking through a million quotes to get the full context until I finally reach the end and get to unwind the stack.

I see we've adopted "chost" as the common term for sharing something here, which makes sense but I feel like we've all forgotten something critical.

How do you pronounce this?? Is it "choast," like it's spelled? Imagine saying "rechoast" aloud. I dare you. Is it "coast," to reflect the site name at the cost of poor ignored letter h? Or we could go with some compromise and hyphenate it, like "cuh-host," but then you might as well just call them cohosts!

The fate of the universe hangs in the balance here. I gotta know.
