I'm 7 hours into F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch, and it's a pretty good metroidvania. I appreciate that they let you get good movement options early on; the wall jump is the first ability you get, and a double jump follows soon after. But half a dozen hours later I'm getting new ways to zip around the screen, which also plays into the game's melee combat. While you can get away with a few basic combos, the amount of movement options, mid-combo weapon switching and special moves you can string together start giving it a sort of DMC feel, although the encounters are far too short to really capture the full violence ballet of full character action games.

The map can feel a little too spread out at times, but the game still manages to make me want to explore every corner of it to get that completion percentage to 100%. It's been fun to poke at the game looking for secrets, trying to find places that feel like I can just barely reach with the right use of hops and dashes, and finding some actual exploits to get rewards earlier than I was supposed to. F.I.S.T. was free on Epic Games recently, so if you already have it in your library, definitely check it out.
