one thing that i do like about the current Early Days of cohost is that it can be a fresh start. you don't really have to be "known" for something like it feels like you have to be on something like twitter. you're just kinda doing whatever.
i think the very nature of twitter makes it so people are just automatically going to end up being the most annoying version of themselves in a way that's less endearing and more abrasive and catty. like, every tweet has to be so combative even if it's just a casual observation of something. you're always on the defensive because it feels like you HAVE to be if you don't want to find yourself suddenly caught off-guard by senseless aggression over even the littlest thing.
my personal hope is that a different kind of culture can be formed here, and people feel like they can interact with each other in ways that are more genuine, that disagreements can possibly be localized discussions coming from a place of respect and understanding instead of evolving into monstrous, ugly discourse, and that people can feel like they can use the space how they wish without feeling the constant pressure of "virality" and appealing to algorithms. we are the culture that we wish to exist, after all.
