Over the past weekend I worked on making a custom sprite set for myself in pokemon crystal clear! Many lessons were learned in the process of figuring out how to make it work but its super cool to see it in action! (thank you so much to @/SerrysOrchid for a ton of help)
so the process to finish this whole project and continue playing my Crystal Clear game on my n3ds involved:
- the initial drawing all the sprites on the sprite sheet
- injecting the sprites into a crystal clear rom using their website for it (after fixing the colors to be gbc compatible)
- turning that rom into a CIA so itโll work on my 3ds
- updating my CFW on my 3ds so i can use save backup software
- create a save backup of my clownless version of pokemon
- install clown version, create a save and back that up as well
- take out, copy and paste in the save into clown version and restore it
- then finally just run my silly little ass to goldenrod city and use the in game character model swapper to the clown model
The result is the really cool moment of seeing your own art in one of your favorite games on the real console, just something real special. I was already really enjoying my experience with crystal clear (even more than I sorta initially expected honestly) but this just makes it truly special to me now.
