WE NEED TO STOP
i ain't even gonna indulge in that whole shpiel about "oh you know, you can have your disney blockbusters, it's fine" NO. if that's all youre doing, you suck as a person. you are a bonsai of an individual. play obscure games and game jam games, listen to music with like 100 plays on youtube, look at original art that isn't "an IP". and use your voice in this attention economy to support REAL indie work, people who need the support. i dont give a fuck if youre in my comments trying to justify whatever i DONT CARE!! GO AWAY!!
the combination of "poptimism" and "no ethical consumption under capitalism" has done so much damage to us as a people i swear. YES popular things can be good but you should seek out things that aren't popular out of principle alone (and ALSO that stuff is BETTER)! and "no ethical consumption" doesn't mean "give up, do whatever you want", it's supposed to get you fired up to do things like unionize, organize, become part of the resistance IN ADDDITION to consumption. because that's not enough. HOWEVER!!! you can DEFINITELY be a more or less shitty consumer based on your choices, so make good choices!
and as for teams we need to stop selling out to these big companies. be indie and start your own. they don't give a fuck and they are not accountable in any way shape or form. if making a universally beloved instant classic like hi-fi rush, that sold tons of copies, AND BEING INDUSTRY LEGEND SHINJI MIKAMI doesn't protect you, nothing will. so fuck 'em
