i wish i made Bullet Witch; i would have probably made it a slightly better game! [audience laughter]
jokes aside, yes! i'm the designer, scenario writer, artist and composer for Bullet Sorceress. it's kinda hard to say "how" the project has been going -- i had to pick up some contract work about two years ago (around a few months after the time i had started developing the core ideas, aesthetic, mechanics, and story), which very quickly ramped up and pretty much became the only thing i've had time to do since then. obviously all of the pandemic stuff certainly hasn't helped...
luckily, with my work wrapping up very soon, i'll be right and ready to fly right into the good shit again! i'm actually really, really looking forward to getting back to it and showing it to folks again.
i haven't been dead in these last two years though; while i haven't had the time or energy to work on the art (which largely amounts to tilesets, enemies, and cutsenes) or the core game design (at least of which i had mostly finished before i had to step away anyways), i've been pretty immersed into the general "universe" that i've created for the game, doing a ton of writing, re-writing, backstory, and fun little lore bits, as well as further developing and fleshing out the characters of the game itself, and drawing up little concepts and ideas for bosses, modes, and the like. i think the forced time away has actually been pretty good for the project as a whole, as it's something that i really believe people are going to enjoy now!
hopefully i haven't just created pie-in-the-sky expectations for myself or others haha, but i think it's just a general sign that game development has become something very exciting and inspiring for me again, after a long drawn-out period of "development goes great -> something in life goes horribly wrong -> long delay of no development -> things get better -> development -> ..." making it hard to stay motivated and as productive as we would like.
i guess to summarize, the concepting and structure of the game has been going great, despite the design and art having been on hold for a while due to other things getting in the way, and you will all see a lot more about what's going on in the Bullet Sorceress-verse very soon. everyones' patience and understanding has been an essential pillar in keeping us going under even the greatest challenges, and it will be rewarded with fruit in time; ideally in 2024. ā¤ļø
