it's probably still a top 5 for me the year it came out (would have to make that list but i'm just assuming) but the simplicity makes regular combat leave me aching for more and makes lategame boss enemies push the mechanics, i feel, a little past their breaking point, like i think i more or less had to collect and abuse the game's finisher charges (whatever they're called i forget) to get past the last iron hat and the spirit of vengeance unless i wanted to spend a bunch of time fucking around with it, would be less of an issue if i could parry worth a damn but i have some kind of benign motor disability. cursed to never Rhythm Heaven

i just wish there was some general applicability to the different styles and that the damage penalty for using the wrong one was at least less so that i could pulverise at least lone enemies with the 'wrong' style without looking foolish

still picking up the definitive edition when it goes down to have a copy on pc and experience the bonus island, for sure

yeah i'm glad i decided to sample sekiro before buying, i'm sure a lifetime of gaming experience could carry me to "getting stuck on some fuckhead at the 60 percent mark" but i also just don't think it contains whatever nonspecific essence i personally play fromsoft games for. having to miss a from release hurt but damn did elden ring make up for it
