I specifically typed this up for the Furry Writers Guild discord server (hey you should join that if you're a furry and also a writer, don't need to be a guild member even), to help people find more places to submit to, so I'll share it with y'all, too.

It's mostly sci fi/fantasy/horror stuff, but there's some general/literary things in there, too. And these are only places that, morally, I'd be okay submitting to. So no AI bullshit, no submission fees, no sketchy info sec practices, etc. And this is definitely not a comprehensive list of EVERYONE that is currently open! Just some highlights.

All $ refers to USD, since that's what most places pay. Markets are currently (July 1) open to submissions unless otherwise noted. Also, some places are also looking for art, so that might be worth checking out, too :)

• PodCastle, fantasy podcast that also posts the text online. Originals up to 6K words @ 8c/w, reprints up to 6K (but you can ask for longer works) @ $20 or $100, depending on the length. you can submit both an original and a reprint at the same time https://podcastle.org/guidelines/

• Diabolical Plots, =<3.5K, any sort of SFFH @ 10 c/w. They really like weird stuff (will be open on the 8th, they're open maybe once a year, so you don't want to miss this!) https://www.diabolicalplots.com/guidelines/

• Utopia Science Fiction Magazine, Utopia/positive sci fi. 100-4K words @ 8c/w (they just bumped it to pro). Also they're looking for art for $35 https://www.utopiasciencefiction.com/submit

• Flash Fiction Online, 500-1K for either speculative or literary flash fiction. Normally they have themes, but this window is unthemed! They pay $100, which maths out to 10 c/w (or better!) They'll close for subs once they hit a cap, so get a move on! https://ffo.submittable.com/submit

• Orion's Belt, literary SFF flash, up to 1.2K @ 8 c/w. They're looking for cover art, too, which is $25. https://www.orions-belt.net/submissions

• Mysterion, SFFH "with Christian themes, characters, or cosmology." You don't need to be a Christian or the work to be "unambiguously pro-Christian," but hey! 8 c/w and up to 9K words! • The Ampersand Review is more general/literary leaning and feel a little more stuffy/academic, so keep that in mind when picking what to sub. Up to 3K words for $100. Priority given to Canadians, but can accept anyone. Accepts poetry, too. https://theampersandreview.ca/submit

• Brink wants hybrid/cross-genre/experimental stuff. This month's theme is "access," and there's no min/max wordcount listed. $50 for =<1.5K, $100 for more than that. https://www.brinkliterary.com/submit
