I was curious. The Oakland A's had the worst average attendance of all the MLB teams in 2022 (9K home game average). Gee, that seems low! I thought. SO I went and looked at all the other professional sportsball teams and their attendance for their latest seasons.

Only one team has it worse than the A's, and that's the Arizona Coyotes, with 4,600 attendance. But that's because they're temporarily playing in a stadium that can only fit 4,600 people.

Oakland's stadium can hold 63,000.

i remember trying to look for any positive about this change, trying to actually not look at things negatively for once, and foolishly went "well, at least they're prioritizing join date and not letting folks pay to jump the queue with nitro, that's good at least"

and then i get a message a few days later from someone saying "but it says they are" and then i notice they fucking changed the post and, boy howdy did i feel dumb for imagining they wouldn't think with their wallets for one goddamn second

My roommate is Jewish so she doesn't know a lot of these things, so I get to enjoy telling her how wild this all is.

I explained to her Martin Luther's 200 page google doc callout post the other day. So I had to explain indulgences. An then I had to explain purgatory. (There's no "hell" in Judaism so this was an entirely foreign concept to her)

Guilting peasants into paying the church to get Grandma out of the backrooms is an incredibly ridiculous concept, so it was very funny to see her go "no way, that can't be real." Oh, it is very real, and you would not believe the Drama that resulted from it.
