the story about flaco the owl always annoyed me over how people were happy that he was "free" after his cage got vandalized and he died today bc he flew into a window... he could have lived to be 40 in captivity how do you think him being free in new york city of all things would be good in the long run

how much are u willing to bet that the same ppl who cheered for him being "free" are the same types of ppl that watch and go "aww" over people interacting with exotic animals in their house.... lol
ARA's are so brainless they really think every zoo is some shitty roadside zoo that doesn't take care of animals properly but being free is better if the animal can fly into a skyscraper window or ingest tons of poison from the average NYC rat 🤪
since my twin has worked with/works for biology labs, the fact that people have to lock up pigeons behind like three differnt types of locks and security bc some ARA are insane and will simply throw them outside even though they're in the lab just for examples of taught behaviors (they're treated well and given lots of stimulation) is still crazy to me.
Like, the pigeons are fed, treated well, given a big space to wander, and yet they often have to downsize their enclosures because ARA's are the ones putting them in danger.
Also they're the reasons why the ecosystems get fucked here bc they just release animals willy nilly and don't think about if they become invasive species or not. It fucking sucks.
