this was a random thought/story i was planning on sharing on stream but idk if i'm still on for tomorrow since i'm moving more stuff so i'll just throw it out here because a video i watched today reminded me of it (it was a video of someone talking about their first exposure to sailor moon in japanese while they were watching the DiC dub):
in 2000, there used to be a store at this mall that i went to called lulu (which i can't find any info on ever existing) that carried a lot of imported sanrio stuff, DBZ stuff, but most importantly sailor moon stuff. they had some imported korean merch for the show and my parents bought me this little keychain charm that you could split with a friend that had eternal sailor moon, super chibi moon, and super sailor saturn on it. i was like "woag.. why does sailor moon look like that is this from episodes i haven't seen yet" and was fascinated. i think at the time dub watchers only knew super sailor moon by that point? and there was also the fact that sailor saturn had a super form??? kid me was going nuts over it. i showed it to my brother and he was like, "i think that's just a miscoloration. there is no other sailor moon that looks like that" and i was like NUH UHH THIS IS SOMETHING ELSE!!! and one year later i would access a bunch of sailor moon sites on angelfire and geocities that covered stars and felt insanely vindicated after lmao
