Speaking from experience, transition is not the commitment people tend to make it out to be. Clothes and hair and names and pronouns can all be changed on a whim and then changed back with no consequences outside of discovering who in your life really wasn't worth knowing anyway. Even HRT only results in irreversible changes after a long time, a great many of their effects can be experienced well before any nebulous "point of no return." Surgeries are irreversible, but the incredibly small rate of regret on them indicates that if you ever do go through with it, then you are almost certainly damn sure that it's right for you ahead of time.
There's nothing wrong with experimenting. Try out different versions of you, you never know what you may discover.
You might think you're too old to start now, but if you push it down again, the next time it comes back up, you'll just wish you did it the last time. You're not too old to make yourself into a person you like more. You weren't last time, you won't be next time, and you're not right now.
If you mess with your name, pronouns, etc and decide "nah I'm good" then you unlock cis+ which gives you a cool badge on your profile, extra dialog options, and an achievement.
It is never too late to find and become your perfect self, never let anyone even imply that to you.
you deserve better, the best in fact
there are many ways to do it, there is no one "right way". u can start social and medical transition right away, u can do one before the other. u can even do what i do and stealth* ur HRT for years before deciding to commit to social transition.
ur journey is ur own. get informed, get going. its ur life and do fuckin whatever
